Twenty princes from twenty-eight royal families are reported to have shown interest in occupying the Alaafin stool just as the deadline set for submission of application ends today.

Elders from twenty eight of the Agunloye Ruling House have called on the Oyo Mesi (kingmakers) to pick the next Alaafin of Oyo from among the princes of the families.

Reports have it that the Head of the Mogaji Isale Oja Agunloye, Abdukareem Ishaq, expressed that Agunloye gave birth to 29 children and the family of just one of the children, Lawani Agogo Ija, had produced Alaafin three times. He said it was now the turn of one of the 28 remaining families to produce the next Alaafin.

The families of the Agunloye Ruling House have therefore called on the Oyo Mesi(Kingmakers) to select the next Alaafin of Oyo from among the remaining twenty eight royal families so that they would not be pushed out from the line of those who have a right to occupy the throne.
