Many Nigerians were stranded at various airports across the country, over the weekend, as scarcity of aviation fuel, Jet A1, skyrocketed thereby affecting airline operations.

The scarcity of Jet A1 began in the last few weeks which made the airline operators to decide last week to shut down their operations but later hsd to suspend the plan when they were prevailed upon by the government.

While speaking on the development, Dana Air Deputy CEO, Sukh Mann, stated that it is an unfortunate situation witnessing another scarcity of Jet A1 across Nigeria’s airports which has caused delays in flights.

It has been reported that the scarcity of aviation fuel has affected various airlines including Air peace, Azman Air, Max Air, Dana Air and some others.

It was further reported that the product, Jet A1, is being sold at N695 in airports like Yola, Adamawa, Maiduguri in Borno state while it was sold at N598 per litre in Lagos, N642 in Kano, N627 in Abuja, N626 in Port Harcourt, N635 in Enugu and N630 in Anambra.

While it was sold at N598 per litre in Lagos, it was N642 in Kano, N640 in Kaduna, 627 in Abuja, N626 in Port Harcourt, N635 in Enugu, N630 in Anambra, among others.

Some passengers journeying to Abuja and Lagos on Saturday lamented that they couldn’t fly at the scheduled time and later had their flights rescheduled to the next day.

However, an airline operator, Barr. Shehu Wada blamed the massive flight delays on the scarcity of Jet fuel A1, adding that no airline is immuned from the challenge.
