Following the expiration of the 30-day ultimatum issued by the National Assembly, the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) is set to publish names of 7,912 debtors owing it a total of N4.4 trillion.

AMCON Spokesperson, Jude Nwauzor, stated that the corporation cannot go against the directive of the National Assembly as it is being asked to publish the details of debtors who are yet to provide a repayment proposal.

He added that the debtors’ details will be published in the media following the 30-day warning given by the National Assembly.

While speaking on reasons why the agency would go ahead to publish the names of the debtors, Nwauzor said, prior to the Christmas holiday, the National Assembly had ordered the agency to publish a list of debtors, but the management of AMCON felt the need to do an advertorial with the deadline before publishing the list.

AMCON confirmed that 4,831 out of a total of 12, 743 non-performing loans inherited by the agency have been settled, leaving a total of 7,912 outstanding debtors.

The corporation further made its confirmation that the agency would be publishing the names of 7,912 debtors owing the agency N4.4tn at the expiration of the deadline.
