Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former Vice-president and presidential hopeful under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party, has disowned a tweet condemning the lynching of Deborah Yakubu, a 200-level student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education, who was gruesomely murdered early yesterday for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)

A tweet condemning the heinous act on his twitter page had expressed that “There cannot be a justification for such gruesome murder. Deborah Yakubu was murdered and all those behind her death must be brought to justice. My condolences to her family and friends.”

However, the tweet was taken down moments later following threats and backlashes from some Muslims from the northern part of the country who threatened not to vote for him if he emerges as the PDP Presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.

The former Vice President in a message on his verified Hausa Facebook page has disowned the deleted tweet saying any social media message that is not accompanied with the initials “A. A.” did not come from him.
