About half of the scheduled flights at two airports in the city of Beijing, China have been cancelled in the last few days. This comes in the wake of the nation’s tightening travel restrictions after the discovery of new Covid-19 cases in Beijing and some parts of the country.

China has a strict zero tolerance policy for controlling the spread of the coronavirus, hence the reason for the cancellation of the flights.

According to a credible aviation industry source, VariFlight, 800 flights were cancelled at Beijing Capital International Airport and 1,000 flights at Beijing Daxing International Airport.

Beijing’s Health Commission have also announced that residents who travelled out of the city on business trips or leisure to areas with confirmed Covid-19 cases should postpone their date of return and stay where they are.
