Joining the world of metaverse, Boeing is set to build its next airplane in metaverse to unify sprawling design, production and airline services operations under a single digital ecosystem.

Immersive 3D engineering designs together with robot that can speak to each other will be put in place while mechanics around the world will be connected by $3,500 HoloLens headset.

The plane maker in 2022 is set to reassert its engineering dominance after the 737 MAX crisis, while laying the foundation for a future aircraft program over the next decade.

The need to deliver order books has opened up a new war front on the factory floor between Boeing and Europe’s Airbus. The simultaneous push by both plane giants is a symbol of a digital revolution that has become the new norm as automakers and social media giants also move into the immersive metaverse world.

Boeing’s goal for its next aircraft is to build and link virtual three-dimensional “digital twin” replicas of the jet and the production system to run simulations.

The company’s Chief Engineer, Greg Hyslop said that customers will get improved quality, better responsiveness, better communication and speed.
