The Central Bank of Nigeria has suspended the launch of the eNaira which was initially billed to launch today.

The CBN in a statement released by its spokesperson Osita Nwanisobi, said it decided to postpone the planned launch to a later date in deference to the mood of national rededication for a national shift towards a collective dream of one Nigeria. The statement expressed further that the planned launch had to be postponed to make way for other important events slated to mark the nation’s 61st independence anniversary.

Nwanisobi assured that there is no cause for alarm as the CBN and other partners are working hard to keep everything running smoothly for the benefit of customers, especially in rural and non-banking areas.

Nwanisobi expressed further that the digital currency is the way to go and not all bank clients are expected to start transaction on the day of the launch.
