The Chief Executive Officer of Tesla Inc. (TSLA.0), Elon Musk, has disclosed in a tweet that he will pay more than $11 billion in taxes this year.

The disclosure comes as Musk and other billionaires are facing increasing scrutiny over the amount of tax they pay.

Since early November, Musk has sold off $14 billion worth of Tesla’s stock following the response of his followers in a Twitter poll to sell 10% of his holdings.

Musk’s wealth comes from stocks award and gains in Tesla’s share price rather than salary or cash bonus.

According to Forbes list, Musk’s wealth sits at $244.2 billion, making him the richest person in the world and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos as the second richest person in the world trailing Musk’s wealth with almost $50 billion .
