Capitalizing on the need to connect to colleagues and loved ones over video calls, Facebook unveiled the third generation of its portal video calling device and a new service that will allow businesses to deploy fleets of the devices to their employees.

The company first unveiled its portal device in 2018 and hasn’t revealed any sales number since then.

In a bid to key into the revolving world, Facebook is still bullish on video calling screens and it expects that people will want to continue video chatting. Hence, the reason for the new device.

Facebook also announced portal for business, a service for small and mid-sized businesses that will allow companies to purchase, deploy, and remotely manage portal devices for workers. As more companies shift to remote and hybrid set-ups, there is a need for this type of service.
