Google, the world’s largest search engine company, is reportedly negotiating to buy cybersecurity firm, Mandiant.

Mandiant’s shares closed up to 16% on the Nasdaq after the news.

The firm which focuses on cyber-incident response and cybersecurity testing has a market capitalization of about $4.53 billion.

The report added that a deal could bolster Google’s cloud computing business, which generates more than $19 billion annually but has been losing billions of dollars a year, and help it compete with bigger rival Microsoft Corp, which is also reportedly interested in buying Mandiant.

However, both parties – Google and Mandiant did not immediately respond to request for comment.
