The Lagos State Police Command has announced that both the okada rider and the passenger(s) who flout the recent ban on okada movement in some local governments in the state would be arrested and prosecuted.

This disclosure was made by the Lagos State Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, via a tweet.

His tweet reads “Under the new total ban of motorcycles in six local government areas of Lagos State, passengers and riders alike will be arrested and prosecuted. The passenger is an accomplice. Ignorance will not be an excuse!”

Recall that on Wednesday, 18th May, 2020, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, declared an indefinite ban on activities of commercial motorcycles, popularly known as Okada, in six Local Government areas in the state.

The Local Governments are Ikeja, Surulere, Eti-OSA, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, and Apapa.

Sanwo-Olu thereafter directed the police to enforce the order without compromise.
