Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has revealed a new touch sensor skin like material that could potentially support the development of the newly developed metaverse.

This material known as Reskin is a deformable plastic skin less than 3 millimeters thick and has magnetic particles inside that produces a magnetic field.

The skin which was tested on robots brings the company one step closer to realistic virtual objects and physical interaction in the metaverse.

When the skin comes into contact with another surface, the magnetic field from the embedded particles change. The sensor then records the change in magnetic flux, before feeding the data to some AI software, which attempts to understand the force or touch that has been applied.
