A red and white pair of US basketball legend, Michael Jordan’s earliest known season game-worn Nike shoes has been auctioned for a whopping sum of $1.47Million at a Sotheby auction in Las Vegas, the highest ever paid for a game footwear from any sport.

Michael Jordan, who retired from the game in 2003, is reportedly the first billionaire player in the history of the NBA and widely acknowledged as the best basketball player ever.

Jordan was a global icon and he helped raise the NBA’s profile around the world.

The autographed trainers were bought by Nick Fiorella, a well known collector. The shoes were worn in Jordan’s fifth NBA game in his rookie season in 1984.
