Nigeria has destroyed 1,066,214 million doses of expired AstraZeneca vaccine that was received on the 11th and 29th of October 2021.

The vaccines which got expired in November were crushed by a bulldozer at the Gosa Dumping Site, about 2KM away from the Idu Railway Station in Abuja.

The Executive Director of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) Faisal Shuaib said that the expired vaccines were withdrawn from states in the country.

He added that the government has been making conscious effort to ensure that Nigerians are reassured that the vaccines are very effective and that is why the destruction of expired vaccines was done in the public.
