The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) have formed an alliance to help Nigeria benefit from $4.7 trillion yearly exportation of digital services. This was disclosed by the immediate past NEPC Executive Director, Segun Awolowo during a press briefing.

NITDA’s Corporate Affairs Department, headed by Hajiya Hadiza Umar said in a statement that the alliance was in line with the Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship Pillar of the agency’s 2021-2024 Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan.

Mr Awolowo lauded the partnership which he said has provided about 150 million support grants to innovation hubs in three geopolitical zones in the country. He added that about 300 trillion in grants had been provided to support start-ups who have potentials to export services in the EntertainmentTech, FinTech, EduTech and LogisticsTech sectors.

NITDA’s Director General, Mallam Kashifu Inuwa, represented by the Acting Director of Corporate Planning and Strategy (CPS), Dr. Aristotle Onumo said the partnership was aimed at facilitating the exportation of Nigeria’s digital service to the rest of the world.

He stressed further that the best would come for the country from more partnerships of this nature, especially between the public and the private sectors. He added that there is need for synergy, exchange of ideas and knowledge sharing among the stakeholders.
