Companies are working to harness ocean current in different ways to generate clean energy. The ocean carries capacity to produce electricity round the clock throughout the year.

Oceans and rivers have increasingly become a vast and abundant source of energy as companies devise safer and cheaper means to reduce fossil fuel emission in power generation and curb climate change.

Experts have revealed that the seawater is 800 times the density of wind though, with lower flow speeds but generate far more energy.

Off the coast of Scotland, Orbital Marine Power operates what is known as the world’s most powerful tidal turbine. The Orbital turbine which is connected to the electricity grid in Scotland’s Orkney is capable of producing up to two megawatts, enough to power 2,000 homes a year.
