The longest-serving and closest aide of Prince Charles, Michael Fawcett, has resigned his role as head of The Prince’s Foundation as a result of a cash-for-honorary-titles allegation against him.

Fawcett had served as Prince Charles’ personal attendant before his appointment as Chief Executive of The Prince’s Foundation. It is now reported that he has voluntarily resigned from the position when he was accused of using his position and influence to help a Saudi businessman, Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz, secure an honorary “Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE)” title and British citizenship in interchange for donations.

Fawcett had stepped down temporarily as the chief executive of the foundation in September but it’s now been confirmed he has quit the role completely.

Prince Charles has denied ever having any prior knowledge of the alleged honors in exchange for donation offer.
