The apartment of Diana Spencer, one of the most iconic figures in recent British history, has been celebrated with an official blue plaque which signifies that the apartment is now a popular hobby for sightseers and history buffs.

The blue plaque which was posted on the Coleherne Court building on old Brompton Street in Kensington reads: “Lady Diana Spencer, late Princess of Wales, lived here 1979-1981”

Diana, who still has a special place in the hearts of Londoners, lived in the apartment for two years before she became the Princess of Wales. As her public profile grew, Coleherne Court was regularly visited by photographers who hoped to capture pictures of the future princess.

The blue plaque is the second significant memorial unveiled in 2021, the year she would have turned 60. In July, her sons revealed a statue of their mother at the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace.

She won a lasting reputation outside her personal life for her extensive charity and humanitarian work which was a major focus of her life until her tragic death at 36-years.
