Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, has announced that the company is most concerned with developing a humanoid robot this year ahead of the much-hyped Cybertruck and other vehicles, including the Semi and the Roadster.

Musk said he believes that the robot, code-named Optimus, has the potential to be more recognised than the vehicle business over time.

The business magnate had earlier stated that the company has no plans to introduce the Cybertruck this year and that it isn’t currently working on a $25,000 vehicle.

He noted that the lingering chip shortage hindered the release of new models without resulting in fewer vehicles being produced.

The Tesla boss had earlier teased about the “Tesla Bot” in August using a human in a robot suit, warning during the company’s “AI Day” that the robot probably won’t work but added that he hoped to have a prototype in by next year.

He further mentioned in the previous year that ‘Optimus’ is intended to be friendly, and navigate through a world of humans, and eliminate dangerous, repetitive, and boring tasks.

While the Tesla robot could be years away and may never come to fruition, Musk said it does have the potential to revolutionize the economy if it can perform tasks that only humans can carry out.
