Aviation oil marketers on Wednesday predicted that the price of aviation fuel might soar to N700/litre in the coming week if the global crude oil price continues to rise.
The marketers said this barely 24 hours after the price of aviation fuel rose by 35% from N430 per litre to N580 per litre.

Recall that the aviation fuel, also known as Jet A1, which sold for N190 per litre soared to N360 per litre in January this year. It, however, rose to between N579 and N607 per litre on yesterday.

Oil marketers, as well as airport officials, report that aviation fuel was sold for different prices across the nation’s airports.

In the Federal Capital Territory and Port-Harcourt, Jet A1 was sold for N579 per litre on Tuesday. In Lagos, it also sold for N579 while it sold in Kano for N607.

A few weeks ago, airline agencies had raised airfares by 100% when the aviation fuel marketers increased Jet A1 to about N450 per litre.

This has, however, left several passengers stranded in domestic terminals of the Lagos and Abuja airports.
