The United Kingdom has announced that it would resume the processing of visitor’s visa application for Nigeria and other countries which were previously on the red list.

The disclosure was made by the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), which noted that the ban was lifted due to the removal of Nigeria and other countries from the red list restrictions over the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

The UK Visas and Immigrations noted further that due to extremely high global demand, standard UK visitor visas are currently taking significantly longer period than usual to be processed.

The statement added that the non-visa applications (student and work visas inclusive) are still being processed within published service standards and the applicants will be contacted by the Visa Application Centre (VAC) when their passports are ready.

Meanwhile, it also warned the applicants not to visit the centre until they are told to do so. It added that those with an urgent need to travel to the UK for compassionate reasons are to apply for a visa in a conventional way, and submit biometrics at a VAC.

The UK government further said applicants should clearly explain the compelling or compassionate reasons for the visit in their application form and must alert the VAC staff during biometric submission.

However, the priority Visa (PV) and Super Priority Visa (SPV) services are still temporarily suspended for all visa applications in all countries previously on the red list.
