The United State’s Federal Communications Commission FCC has ordered China Telecoms(Americas) Corp to discontinue its operations in the US within 60 days due to national security concerns, an action that threatens to once again increase tensions between the world’s two largest economies.

This action is a result of a long dispute with China Telecom which has been in operation for over two decades.

The FCC stated that it gave the Telecom company an opportunity last December to rebut concerns over its presence in the US but the company failed to do so.

The company’s main business is in China with roughly 370 million mobile customers but it’s American subsidiary was incorporated in 2002 to provide services to businesses and carriers between America and China.
