A loyal customer is the number one goal of most business owners. With so many competitors on the market, business owners must do something to stand out from the crowd. More than that though, they must have customers fall in love with your business. What can you do to make them love you and become a diehard fan?
1. Win them over with service
With customer service waning, a little bit of friendly service goes a long way. Give customers great service and you have a customer for life. Zappos did this with their free returns policy and amazing customer service and it helped them to grow into the company they are today. Treat them like royalty the second they walk in the door or when talking to them on the phone. Go above and beyond every time.
2. Become an integral part of their lifestyle
When you fit a customer’s life so perfectly, they can’t imagine living without you. Brands like Whole Foods or Natural Grocers give their customers access to healthy, organic food that fits their eco conscious lifestyle. Learn what they want and if you can provide it do it.
3. Make them feel like insiders
When you know a secret before others, you feel good about yourself. It proves that you’re a person worthy of an inside deal. Membership based companies such and Costco and Sam’s Club use this method to get customers coming back for more. Give them special deals for signing up for your mailing list or on social media. Tell them about a deal when they walk in the door.
4. Give them the “coolness” factor
Companies like American Apparel or Warby Parker carry a lot of social clout for their customers. People who buy from you get bragging rights and that goes a long way. Create a place they want to be seen or a product that they must have. Use influencers and brand ambassadors in your community to help you make that happen.
However you go about doing it, making lasting customers is all about creating an emotional attachment. Get your customers to fall in love with your business and you have a loyal user for life and more raving fans than you know how to handle.
