The greatest lesson to be taught in business, and in life, is to learn from other people. Watching others can teach you how to succeed, how to fail, and how to grow and proposer in spite of it all.
Some of the greatest business leaders to ever innovate in their industries, did so with courage of convocation and by refusing to fear failure. The advice from business greats like Henry Ford, Walt Disney and Warren Buffet will stand the test of time as a how-to guide for entrepreneurs and business owners for generations to come.
1. Henry Ford (July 30, 1863 – April 7, 1947)
The founder of Ford Motor Company, Ford was an innovator in the American industrial age and led the charge for the development of mass production through the assembly line.
Ford’s advice: “Paying attention to simple little things that most men neglect, makes a few men rich.”
Attention to detail and taking note of even the simplest matters can prove to be fruitful. Being meticulous and dedicated will pay off in the end.
2. Peter Drucker (November 19, 1909 – November 11, 2005)
For the better part of a century, Drucker became one of the most well-known business minds in history. He was an American management consultant and educator whose writings help to build the foundations of the modern business corporation.
Drucker’s advice: “Business has only two functions – marketing and innovation.”
Drucker believed in the power of development and management education. His principles taught the business world the importance of fostering creativity in the business realm and how to become an expertise in your field of work. Drucker taught the business world the power of knowledge amongst workers in order to build economic power.
3. Walt Disney (December 5, 1901 — December 15 1966)

Few business leaders have impacted the span of generations that Disney has. Since he founded the Walt Disney Company, he has become a household name for generation after generation, something he will continue to do until the end of time.
Disney’s advice: “All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me… You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.”
Disney’s legacy will continue to live on for decades to come. He taught the business world that success is not given to you, but it is earned through hardwork and dedication. But he also made note that success is not the only aspect of business that needs to be celebrated. For as much as there is to be learned from success, there is just as much, if not more, knowledge to be found in our failures. Learning to fail, and to develop from those failures is a trait that all too many businesses lack. It is the triumph from failure that determines who really succeeds.
4. Steve Jobs (February 24, 1955 — October 5, 2011)
Jobs is an American entrepreneur known as the co-founder of Apple Inc.
Jobs’ advice: “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”
One of the most important lessons to be learned from Jobs is that success is a labor of love, but harboring that love is one of the hardest, most necessary things you can do. Jobs lived his life, both personal and professional, instilling the moto of loving what you do with everything that you have. If you are in a business that you are not passionate about, true, unadulterated success is impossible.
5. Warren Buffett (August 30, 1930 — Present)
Buffet is an American business tycoon known as being one of the, if not the, most successful investors of the 20th century. He is the largest shareholder of Berkshire Hathaway.
Buffet’s advice:“Without passion, you don’t have energy. Without energy, you have nothing.”
Buffet has sat in the top 5 wealthiest people list for years, so he must be doing something right. He has also said never to invest in something you don’t understand. Having passion, and understanding of your business are both invaluable assets to your business. Passion will drive you to go to the ends of the earth to see a dream fulfilled. You need that drive in business, and you need that blinded, even foolish determination in order to achieve greatness.
