French president, Emmanuel Macron, has been pelted with an egg, while taking part in an International food trade fair in the city of Lyon by a man in the crowd. This was revealed in a video monitored on CNN on Monday.

This makes the second time that Macron would be physically assaulted in just a few months.

The motivation behind this incident is yet to unknown.
The egg reportedly bounced off the President’s shoulder and got shattered on hitting the floor. The young man who threw the eggs was immediately escorted from the premises and later taken into the custody.

In June, President Macron was slapped by a man during a tour in South-eastern France. Macron had stretched his hands to greet the man and rather than receive the handshake, he held his hand and slapped the left side of the President’s face shouting “A Bas La Macronie” meaning “Down with Macron”. Security operatives immediately intervened and the man was put in prison for four months.

The country’s presidential election is scheduled to hold in April next year, just seven months away, and Macron is on a charm offensive to lure french voters.
