Automobile manufacturing giant, Nissan Motors Co., has disclosed plans to invest $17.6 billion to accelerate its electrification plans.

As part of ‘Nissan Ambition 2030 initiative’, the company said it will launch 23 new electrified models, including 15 new electric cars. The company projects that
by year 2030, it would have achieved a 50% electrification line up.

Makoto Uchida, the CEO of Nissan, in a statement said the company will drive the new age of electrification and advance technologies to reduce carbon footprint and pursue new business opportunities.

He added that Nissan wants to transform into a sustainable company that is truly needed by customers and society.
