Commercial banks have been criticised by the Central Bank of Nigeria for not promoting the eNaira. This criticism was expressed by CBN’s head of Development Finance, Aminu Muhammad, at a sensitization fair in Kaduna.
The fair which held simultaneously in Kaduna and Kano was aimed at educating corps members, hundred of students from tertiary institutions across the state and other members of the public on the eNaira initiative.
Speaking at the fair, Muhammad said the commercial banks were not effective in promoting the eNaira, hence the reason for CBN’s intervention.
He expressed further that financial institutions under the purview of the CBN are supposed to play these critical roles so as to grow the economy.
