The Chief Executive Officer, NGX Regulation Limited, Ms Tinuade Awe, in a webinar, has emphasized the need for corporate firms to ensure they follow adequate procedures in reporting their environmental and social impact.

According to a statement, the webinar themed ‘Unlocking ESG for boards from strategy to disclosure’ was hosted by the Corporate Secretaries International Association, it was centered on how companies can comply with regulations and standards.

While speaking, the CEO, mentioned the importance of measuring and reporting sustainability performance for companies. She stated that the world today is facing major sustainability challenges including inequality, overpopulation, climate change, including other several environmental risks.

Awe further encouraged companies to adopt best practices in their disclosure on ESG issues by ensuring that their sustainability reports covers significant sustainability disclosures that pertains to their stakeholders.

She recommended some certain critical disclosures that should be included in a sustainability report. Historically, sustainability reports cover the address a company’s approach to managing the triple bottom line of people, profit and planet, she added.

She, however, concluded that disclosures in sustainability reports have evolved over the years to address the needs of a wide array of stakeholders.
