The Chief Executive Officer, Emilinks Nigeria Limited, Mr Solomon Nwadigbo has disclosed during a press briefing that Nigeria loses about N105bn annually to fake battery products.
He added that the fake battery products cause more damage to vehicles across the country.

Nwadiogbu stated that Nigeria needs approximately five million batteries annually with an annual demand of 720, 000 vehicles.

According to him, battery failure is one of the most common problems experienced among car owners. Nigeria needs about five million batteries every year to power automobiles, forklifts, cranes and other heavy-duty equipments.

Nwadiogbu further stated that his company offers batteries with five years life span and three years warranty.

He also added that there is a serious threat to the sector locally because of the influx of substandard batteries into the country which is a threat to the economy.

He, however, expressed that the Koreans and the Chinese have made Nigeria a dumping ground for fake batteries.
