The world’s number one automaker, Toyota, announced today that it plans to suspend production at five local factories in Japan by January 2022.

It stated reasons for the suspension as supply chain issues, chip shortages, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Toyota stated further that the halt in production at the factories will affect about 20,000 vehicles, but it will not have an impact on its annual target of manufacturing nine million vehicles.

The previous week, the auto company announced that it would reduce its vehicle production to 50,000 units in North America by January due to supply chain challenges.
