Twitter has revealed in its third quarter financial statements that the firm recorded $1.28 billion in revenue, representing a 37 per cent increase over what it recorded in the same period last year.

It would be recalled that Nigeria’s Federal Government banned the giant platform in June this year. 145 days after the ban, a huge increase in monetisable users and revenue was recorded by the company. Industry watchers have reported that within the same period, Nigeria’s digital economy has been losing around 2 Billion Naira per day.

The financial report also revealed that the company generated $742 million in the United States, an increase of 45 per cent while international revenue stood at $542 million, an increase of 28 per cent.

The statement also disclosed that Japan, which is Twitter’s second largest market increased by 20 per cent, contributing $159 million to the overall revenue.

Twitter’s key subscriber metric, monetisable daily active users (mDAU), hit 211 million in the third quarter, up from 13 per cent a year ago.

The company also disclosed that its projected revenue for the next Quarter is between $1.5 and $1.6 billion.
