The Federal Government in Nigeria has disclosed in a statement titled ‘Stakeholders Applaud the NIN-SIM Verification Exercise’ that the deadline for the NIN-SIM data verification has been extended till the end of 2021.

According to the statement, the extension was due to appeal by Mobile Network Operators and other industry stakeholders for an extension so as to assist telecom users to fully comply with the government’s directive on the matter.

The extension would afford the authorities opportunity to register people in remote areas as well as foreigners and those in diaspora that were unreachable before now.

So far, 66 million unique NIN enrolments have been captured since the enrolment process began, with an average of three to four SIMs linked to an NIN.

The statement further stated that more than 9,500 enrolment systems with over 8,000 NIN enrolment centres are available within and outside the country to ease the enrolment and linkage process.
