German air taxi startup, Volocopter, has announced that it is hiring former Head of Defence and Aerospace Division at Airbus, Dirk Hoke, as CEO.

The long-time Volocopter CEO, Florian Reuter, will be replaced by Hoke as he will look forward to successfully completing the certification process for the company’s electric flying taxis.

While commenting, Hoke said the journey is going to be an incredibly exciting but also difficult one.

Hoke had once worked at Siemens before proceeding to Airbus, just as his predecessor, Reuter.

Volocopter has been in a costly race with some other companies around the world to have the first flying taxi certified by regulators. It, however, hopes to achieve this within the next two years.
